Community hub celebrates donation from housebuilder that will transform outdoor area

A volunteer-run cafe and community space is celebrating after receiving a donation from Persimmon Homes.
Teversal Visitors Centre and Cafe received a £2,000 donation from Persimmon Nottingham after applying to its Community Champions initiative.
The Sutton-in-Ashfield centre and cafe, that provide services for children and adults of all ages, say the donation will go towards improving their outdoor area.
The community hub recently welcomed Persimmon and Chairman of Ashfield District Council Paul Grafton for a cheque presentation.
Debbie Halfpenny, at Teversal Visitors Centre and Cafe, said: “A big shout out to our local Persimmon Homes for a fantastic donation.
“We will be using the money to upgrade our outside area.”
Councillor Grafton said: “It was a pleasure to visit the Teversal Visitors Centre and Café. Persimmon run a very helpful scheme with Community Champions. Following an application and assessment the scheme had chosen the centre to grant a payment of £2,000 to help with costs for improvements.
“I have used the centre over many years and it provides a great space for local residents. It's fantastic that Persimmon that are willing to put money into local communities and take a positive effort into their scheme.
“I wish the best of luck to Debbie and her team, which calls from a list of over 40 volunteers. It was a great thing to be involved in the cheque presentation and look forward to the future of the centre.”
Persimmon Nottingham Planning Manager Robbie Steel said: “It was a pleasure to visit and see first-hand the range of services Debbie and the team are offering local people and we hope this donation goes far in supporting them.”
