Council’s praise for new development near Folkestone
17 November 2025
Work has officially started on our new Victoria Bay development, bringing 80 high-quality new homes to Littlestone.
To celebrate the start of this exciting new development, Cllr Jim Martin, Leader of Folkestone and Hythe District Council, visited the site to learn more about the project and the benefits it will bring.
Craig West, Construction Director for Persimmon Homes South East, explained that the site was acquired with full planning consent last year and we will be building a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes to meet local housing need.
Victoria Bay will offer 18 homes for those whose needs are not met by the open market, including seven shared ownership homes and 11 for below market value rent.
Each home will benefit from photovoltaic panels with the layout featuring a higher percentage of southern orientated roofs to take advantage of the solar energy available at this coastal location. Homes will also be fitted with electric vehicle charging points, and air source heat pumps will be used to provide heating and comfort cooling.
Native hedges will be plating around the green edge of the development to encourage wildlife and promote biodiversity within the new community.
Craig West said: “We are excited to start work here in Littlestone and to be bringing these much-needed new homes to the district.
“Persimmon Homes South East is a five-star housebuilder and we pride ourselves on building high-quality homes and creating a positive lasting legacy in the communities where we are working.”
Cllr Martin said: “We are in the midst of a housing crisis and these new homes are in great demand. This development will support first-time buyers and local homeowners looking to step up the ladder while also delivering affordable homes for those on our housing waiting list who so desperately need a home.”
