Local developer donates £1,000 to Chippenham rugby
17 December 2025
One of Wiltshire’s largest housebuilders has given a financial boost to a local youth rugby team.
Chippenham RFC’s Under 11s received a £1,000 cheque from Persimmon Homes Wessex, the developer behind the town’s Oak Hill Rise scheme, as part of the company’s Community Champions programme.
The club, established in 1898, has around 400 members and plays its home fixtures at Allington Fields. The funds will go towards the club’s Under 11s group to fund its 2025/2026 match day kit.
The accredited five-star developer’s Oak Hill Rise development will see 95 new, high-quality homes delivered in Chippenham once complete. Homes can be purchased from £284,995 on this well-connected site, equipped with air source heat pumps, solar panels, and electric vehicle charging points on this no-gas development.
Persimmon donates £700,000 each year to good causes and much-valued organisations as part of its Community Champions initiative. Recent local recipients include sponsoring the Chippenham Teen Takeover for the last two years.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes Wessex Sales Director Pauline Fletcher, said:
“As a local developer, Persimmon is always happy to fund local youth sports teams as they are often a central part of bringing together young people in the community.
“Deploying our Community Champions funding for schemes that keep children health and social is exactly where we want to see them going, so lending a helping hand to Chippenham RFC is something we are very happy to do.
“We may very well see future residents from our Oak Hill Rise development in town go on to become players and fans in the coming years too.”
Luke Maggs, Team Manager of Chippenham RFC U11s, added:
“We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for their donation. The money they have provided has funded the whole squad to have a full set of match day kit. The smile on their faces when the kit was handed was priceless.”
