Persimmon Homes West Scotland backs Beith Theatre Group’s plans to improve lighting and community performances

Beith Theatre Group has received a welcome boost after securing a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes West Scotland through its Community Champions scheme.

The group, which is run entirely by local volunteers, has over 60 members ranging in age from 11 to 70. With a mission to provide a safe, inclusive, and creative space for people of all ages, the group produces several performances each year and regularly supports local charity events – raising more than £2,000 for good causes last year alone.

Membership is free, and ticket prices for performances have been kept low for the past decade, despite rising costs. The group also runs a popular annual pantomime, with a dedicated relaxed performance to provide a free, comfortable experience for neurodiverse children and their families.

Persimmon’s donation will support the next stage of Beith Theatre Group’s lighting upgrade, allowing equipment to be more flexible and portable so the group can perform in a wider range of community venues.

Chris Logan, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said:

“Beith Theatre Group is a brilliant example of a community organisation that brings people together, builds confidence, and makes the arts accessible to everyone.

“We’re proud to support their work and delighted that this funding will help them continue to thrive.”

Mark Thomson, Beith Theatre Group Secretary, said:

“We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generous donation. Beith Theatre Group is celebrating its 35th anniversary and have always tried to provide residents of the Garnock Valley with light-hearted entertainment. This donation will allow us to continue to improve our productions and support other community groups.”

Persimmon’s Community Champions programme donates more than £700,000 every year to local organisations, charities, and community groups across the UK.

The homebuilder is currently creating 191 energy-efficient new homes in the village at its Kings Gate development, offering a range of three-bedroom terraced to four-bedroom detached homes, with prices starting from £199,000. For more information on Kings Gate visit their website.
