New pathway improves access to play space in Suffolk

10 February 2026

A councillor has praised the Suffolk region for encouraging more children to make use of a play space in Haverhill.

Last year Cllr Joe Mason called on our team to help make the play space at Boyton Place more accessible to residents in the neighbouring Havebury Homes community – and those living in the wider area – by creating a new walkway.

Whilst under no obligation, we were happy to provide the pathway in line with Cllr Mason’s request and set to work on creating a formal link from Saxon Crescent to the playground in Farrant Road.

This week they are putting the final surfacing down to complete the project before opening up the pathway for residents.

Cllr Mason said: “We want to create a joined-up community here in Haverhill and it is vital that our new developments are connected so everyone can share the facilities being created.

“This path gives a direct route from the homes in Saxon Crescent to this fantastic play space, and the area beyond this. It opens up a route through north west Haverhill and will encourage people to get out on foot to explore the area.”

Stuart McAdam, Planning Director for Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: “We take great pride in building not just homes, but communities, and when Cllr Mason highlighted this opportunity to bring these areas together, we were keen to ensure that happened.

“We hope this means even more children will use the play area and that walkers will be able to extend their routes between Boyton Place, Saxon Crescent and the more established areas of Haverhill.”
