North Scotland donates 4,000 bricks to support Aberdeen construction students

Persimmon Homes North Scotland backs future tradespeople as MSP joins college visit and handover event.
North Scotland business has donated more than 4,000 bricks to support construction students in Aberdeen as they develop skills for careers in the industry.
the region have provided the materials to North East Scotland College to give learners hands-on experience using industry-standard products as part of their training.
The donation comes as the company continues to re-establish its presence in the North East, with new developments underway in Blackdog and Newmachar, and a focus on supporting local skills and employment opportunities.
The bricks were handed over at the college’s Altens campus, where they will be used by students to complete practical assessments and develop key bricklaying techniques in a live training environment.
The event was also attended by North East Scotland MSP Duncan Massey, who joined Persimmon representatives to meet staff and students, and see how the materials will support teaching and learning on site.
Persimmon manufactures its own bricks at its factory in Doncaster, enabling it to supply colleges and training providers across the UK as part of its wider commitment to developing future construction talent.
Liam Wright, Curriculum Manager for Construction at North East Scotland College, said:
“Support from employers like Persimmon is vital to the future of construction in the North East. Alongside apprenticeships, many of our full-time students use college as a pathway into the industry, gaining experience across different trades before choosing a career.
“Donations like this enable learners to work with industry-standard materials in a real workshop environment—something that wouldn’t be possible without support from local employers. We’re extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes and hope this marks the start of a strong partnership.”
