Persimmon Homes gives £5,000 cash boost to 1st Redditch Boys and Girls Boys Brigade

13 November 2025

A Boys and Girls Brigade group in Redditch has received a cash boost to aid participation in a conservation project in South Africa.

1st Redditch Boys and Girls Brigade received a £5,000 donation from the developer as part of its Community Champions initiative. Founded in Redditch in September 1960, the group provides weekly activities for boys and girls between the ages of 4 - 18.

The Brigade has three members taking part in the conservation project as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. As part of this project, the trio will be involved in tracking and monitoring wildlife, completing game counts and wildlife surveys, tree planting and erosion control, clearing non-native vegetation from the reserve and volunteering at local school community projects and feeding schemes.

Paul Gration at 1st Redditch Boys and Girls Brigade said:

“We’re absolutely delighted by this kind donation from Persimmon Homes. Our goal has always been to provide positive experiences for young people and these funds will ensure that our three members are able to participate in this really important Conservation project in South Africa.”

Clare Bright, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said:

“What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to local groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”

“It’s great to be able to provide 1st Redditch Boys and Girls Brigade with this donation which will help their members take part in a vital project and provide them with some fantastic life experiences."
