A school is celebrating after receiving a donation that will make a “big difference” to families this Christmas.
Trinity Catholic College has received a £3,000 donation from Persimmon after applying to Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.
The Middlesbrough school say the donation will go towards their Christmas Hamper appeal, which is given out to local families.
Michael Blair, Head of School, said: “We are deeply grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generous donation in support of our Christmas appeal. Their kindness will help us provide children in need with Christmas pyjamas, presents, and a stocking filled with basic essentials—small gifts that will make a big difference to families facing hardship this winter.
“As a Catholic school, we are guided by the values of compassion, dignity, and service to others. This generous act is a living example of those values in action. On behalf of our whole school community, thank you for helping us to bring warmth, joy, and hope to our children this Christmas.”
Councillor Peter Gavigan was on-hand to present the cheque to the school, alongside Persimmon.
Councillor Peter Gavigan said: “I am always happy to support initiatives that benefit the under-privileged in our communities.
“I was therefore delighted to visit Trinity Catholic College, in my Longlands and Beechwood ward, to witness Persimmon’s generous cheque presentation of £3,000. This will enable the college’s CAUSE Christmas Hamper Appeal to help even more families in need.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and pupils of Trinity Catholic College both for running this wonderful campaign and for their hospitality on the day.”
Mark Wheelan, Persimmon Teesside Managing Director, said: “It was a pleasure to visit Trinity Catholic College and see the valuable work teachers and students are doing to support the local community this Christmas.
“We are proud to support them in their efforts in helping families at what can be a challenging time of year. We hope this donation goes far in supporting them.”
