Student chefs prepare for trip to Vietnam with donation from Persimmon Homes

A group of eight aspiring chefs are heading to Southeast Asia to share their skills and talents with communities in need.
The catering students from Farnborough College of Technology will be travelling to Vietnam for two weeks over Easter to experience a new culture, try new foods, work in the community and teach cookery to those in less affluent areas.
The group has been working hard to fund the trip, and their efforts were boosted by a £2,500 donation from our Thames Valley team.
The extra funding has helped them buy equipment and clothing for the trip.
Sean Patterson, Programme Manager for Hospitality and Catering at Farnborough College, said: “We are most grateful for this donation from Persimmon, allowing us to buy rucksacks for each of the students and clothing that will hep identify us while we are travelling around.
“This trip will be an experience of a lifetime for our students, allowing them to see a part of the world they have never travelled to before, and sharing their skills with children in deprived areas. They will also be completing community projects to leave a lasting legacy.”
Laura Jackson, Head of Planning for Persimmon Homes Thames Valley, said: “It was a pleasure to meet the students, who are all so enthusiastic about the experiences that await them in Vietnam.
“At Persimmon we are proud of our work in building stronger communities and this is just another way we are doing that.”
We have recently started work on a new development at Frimley Green, bringing 160 much-needed new homes to the former Mitie site.
