A football squad from Leiston are celebrating an early win this season after securing a new sponsor for their training kits.
Persimmon Homes Suffolk has donated £3,000 to Leiston St Margaret’s Under 14 squad, allowing them to buy new tracksuits for the players.
The club applied through our Community Champion fund, which offers funding to groups, charities and schools across the county, and were delighted to have been chosen as one of the recipients in the latest round of funding.
The players visited the Hakewill Mews development in Leiston to thank the team from Persimmon Homes Suffolk and share details of their progress this season.
Stuart McAdam, Planning Director for Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: “We take great pride in the homes we build in Suffolk and it is an honour to be able to support the neighbouring community through grants like this.
“We have a long-standing tradition at Persimmon of supporting youth sports clubs in the areas we develop as part of our mission to create a positive and lasting legacy.
Coach Shane Strowger said: “A huge thank you to Persimmon Homes for this donation, we are really pleased with the new jackets which really unite the team. We are run by volunteers and funding like this really does make a big difference.”
Attending the presentation was Cllr Katie Graham, East Suffolk Council’s Ward Councillor for Aldeburgh and Leiston, she said: “Thank you to persimmon for investing in our community and supporting grass roots football. We want to see as many young people as possible enjoying outdoor activities and this really supports that.”
We are building 97 new homes at Aldhurst View, including 32 that will be offered through a housing association partner at below market rent, offered as shared ownership, or sold as First Homes properties at a discounted market price.
We are also investing in local infrastructure with contributions including £30,000 to improve the cycle scheme on the B1122; £32,000 for habitat mitigation supporting local European Protected Sites; and £32,600 for Public Rights of Way upgrades.
