Support for charity working with homeless young people in West Berkshire

12 November 2025

A charity working with care leavers and homeless young people is celebrating a £3,000 donation from the Thames Valley division.

The business chose to support Bridge for Young People, based in Newbury, after they applied for a grant through our Community Champions scheme. The fund is designed to help organisations, charities and individuals who are making a difference in their community and grants are awarded throughout the year.

Tracy Underwood, Chief Executive of the charity, was invited to the Charles Church development at Woodlark Place in Newbury to receive the funding and share some of their recent success stories.

The charity works with care leavers and homeless youngsters aged between 16 and 25, by providing a home and support to learn the skills they need to live independently.

They have three homes and seven ‘move-on’ flatlets across Thatcham and Newbury where young people live with a Live in supervisor who acts as a trusted parent, while support workers support them to manage their money, cook on a budget and basic DIY.

Tracy said: “Thank you to Charles Church for this generous donation which will help us continue to provide our young people living with us the much-needed home they need and arm them with the skills they need to create their very own home when the time comes for them to move on.”

Lee Farmer, Land Director for Charles Church Thames Valley, said: “We are delighted to be able to support such a worthy charity within our community which gives those who have been in care a stable place to live.

“We believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home.”
