Theatre’s panto season gets £3,000 boost from local homebuilder

Persimmon Homes North Scotland supports The Kings Theatre in Kirkcaldy with a donation towards new costumes for this year’s “Best Wee Panto in Scotland.”

The Kings Theatre in Kirkcaldy has received a £3,000 donation from Persimmon Homes North Scotland to help fund new costumes for this year’s much-anticipated pantomime, Oor Wee Mammy McGoose.

The funding will ensure the cast of the locally produced show are dressed for the occasion as the curtain rises once again on what’s been described as “the Best Wee Panto in Scotland.”

Set against the vibrant backdrop of the Links Market — Europe’s longest-running street market — this year’s production celebrates Kirkcaldy’s rich heritage and community spirit. The theatre’s creative team continues to champion its “Made in Kirkcaldy, for Kirkcaldy” ethos, with every element of the panto designed and produced locally.

Persimmon’s donation marks another link between the homebuilder and the town, following earlier community support including apprentice painter and decorator Casey Gardner’s work bringing the historic Hobby Horse back to life on the promenade earlier this year.

James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland Managing Director, said:

“We’re proud to support The Kings Theatre and their incredible work in keeping local theatre alive and thriving. The pantomime is a highlight of Kirkcaldy’s festive season, and we’re delighted that our donation will help ensure the cast look their best for what promises to be another fantastic production.”

Mandy Hunter, Kings Theatre, said:

"Going into the fifth year for The Kings the costumes were in much need of replacement they are handmade by a very talented local dressmaker Lynn Buys this funding has made it possible. Mammy McGoose is very much looking forward to wowing the audience with her beautiful dresses and cheeky personality."

Local Councillor, Judy Hamilton, said:

“I’ve been delighted to support and volunteer at The Kings Panto for the past six years, and it’s wonderful to see the production continue to bring joy to families across Kirkcaldy.

“Persimmon Homes’ donation will make a real difference this year, helping the cast shine in their new costumes and ensuring the magic of the ‘Best Wee Panto in Scotland’ can be enjoyed by all.”

The Best Wee Panto in Scotland features a stellar cast, including Mark McDonnell, Sarah Brown Cooper, Shona White, and Ross MacKenzie, alongside the legendary Billy Mack. Audiences can look forward to marvellous music, stunning sets, and plenty of laughter, all with a special story rooted in the heart of the Langtoun.

The donation forms part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which sees each of its 29 regional businesses donate £6,000 every quarter to local charities, community groups, and good causes.

Persimmon Homes has several developments in the area, including Rosslyn Gait in Kirkcaldy, which is nearing completion with the final homes now on sale. Elsewhere, the five-star developer is delivering Castle Hill in Coaltown of Wemyss, where two-bedroom homes are available from £189,000. To find out more visit Persimmon Homes’ website.
