Support will help rising racer compete in senior category after championship-winning year
A 16-year-old karting champion from Wishaw has received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes West Scotland to support his racing career as he steps up to senior competition.
Alexander Wilson, who recently won the WSKC West of Scotland Karting Championship 2025 junior category, is now preparing to compete at senior level after a standout year on the track.
The donation will help support travel, equipment, and racing costs as he continues to compete across Scotland and aims to build on his championship success in the higher category.
Alexander’s racing journey has been supported by his family and local fundraising efforts, including 10K runs, football card initiatives, and donations from local businesses.
He now hopes to secure further sponsorship to help him continue progressing in the sport, while promoting supporters throughout his 2026 racing season.
The donation from Persimmon Homes West Scotland comes as the company continues to invest in the local area, with work underway on its Castle Hill development in Overtown, Wishaw, delivering new homes for the community.
Chris Logan, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said:
“We’re delighted to support Alexander as he takes the next step in his racing career. His dedication, discipline, and commitment are clear to see, and it’s great to be able to help a young local talent pursue his ambitions.
“As we build new homes at Castle Hill in Overtown, we’re also keen to support the wider community and the people within it.”
Alexander Wilson said:
“I can’t thank persimmon homes enough for their contribution towards my 2026 racing season , sponsors are so important to making my dream come true, without them it would be near impossible to move forward “
Persimmon Homes West Scotland supports local individuals and organisations through its Community Champions initiative, helping to invest in the communities where it builds.
