Haverhill

Haverhill is the fourth largest town in Suffolk and is located between Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and Saffron Walden. With excellent shops and amenities and a great community feel, the town is a popular choice for young families. But, with Cambridge just over half an hour away by car and plenty of green space, it’s a great location for professionals working in the city and retirees, too. Persimmon has a range of houses and developments available in Haverhill and the surrounding area.

Haverhill grew significantly in the 1960s, but it’s a market town with a long history. As it’s increased in size, the town has retained a community spirit that makes it a friendly place to live and somewhere that is constantly being improved by the efforts of its residents. With great amenities and its proximity to other towns and cities, it’s a great place to call home.

Activities and culture

If you like playing sports, there are cricket, rugby, bowls, tennis and running clubs, not to mention Haverhill Rovers and Borough football clubs. There’s also a BMX pump track, a golf club just outside of town and a dance school offering classes for adults and children in a variety of different styles.

For culture, the town’s arts centre has a cinema and hosts live music, theatre, comedy, dance and workshops. The centre has a full calendar with plenty to enjoy. There’s also a five-screen cinema, festivals featuring music and art to look forward to and many clubs to join. With so much going on, you’ll be able to take part in your interests and hobbies and meet plenty of new people when you move.

Transport links

Connected by a number of A roads to Cambridge and neighbouring towns. Not far away is the M11, which joins Cambridge to London and offers links to the A1 which gives you access to the rest of the country.
