Ashford Hill

Ashford Hill is a village between Newbury in Berkshire and Basingstoke in Hampshire. That puts it more or less halfway between the M4 and the M3 too. This is a rural setting away from these two vital motorway routes and yet within easy reach of them for commuting and family journeys.

Newbury and Basingstoke put on a great double act. They are each just 10 miles away, both have mainline train stations offering services to London, both town centres have an impressive range of local and national brand shops, and both offer leisure and entertainment venues for all the family. The link road between the two towns is the A339 which you can join a short distance away at Kingsclere.

Living in this part of the world gives you access to the big city as well as to the North Wessex Downs, to Reading and Oxford, and the Chiltern Hills. It’s a fantastic location for work and play.

County connections

With easy access to Berkshire, Surrey and Oxfordshire, this Hampshire base will suit a range of house buyers. The two main motorway routes join the M25 at Slough and Chertsey. The M3 heads on down to Winchester and Southampton and the M4 takes you to Bristol and into South Wales. You can pick up on that other great route into the South West - the A303 - between Basingstoke and Andover. Trains from Newbury to Oxford and from Basingstoke into central London are a great option for commuters. Heathrow is under an hour away and Gatwick just over that, at about an hour and a half.

Local amenities

With such easy access to the main towns in the area, all the shops and leisure venues are there for you to make the most of. That said, local shops and services are just as important and Ashford Hill offers a primary school, a pub a community centre and a national nature reserve for local walks with the dog. A few minutes’ drive takes you to a Sainsbury’s store 3 miles away and a Morrisons 4 miles away.
