As well as the city of Southampton, the town has the beaches of Hayling Island and West Wittering a stone’s throw away. Just below the South Downs National Park, you can also enjoy long countryside walks in stunning scenery. Well connected

With the A3 on its doorstep, it has easy access to London and the North via the M25. The A27 also passes to the south of the town, connecting you to both Chichester and Fareham. 

The railway station is served by the Portsmouth Direct Line, running services between Portsmouth Harbour and London Waterloo, which takes between an hour and a half to two hours. Plus, the rail commute into Portsmouth takes an average of 20 minutes. 

For international travel, Southampton Airport is just over half an hour away by car. And local bus services connect to the main cities and towns along the coast, as well as inland to many of East Hampshire’s rural village communities.

By-the-sea amenities

A lovely, and partly pedestrianised, town centre, Havant has a bi-weekly market, plenty of local shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. Of course, you also have the amenities of Portsmouth and Chichester under 20 minutes away by car. Perfect for growing families, there are several primary and secondary schools in the catchment area. For 16+ students, Portsmouth is a popular university destination for higher learning.
