Community donation supports sustainable future for local Church Hall in Gobowen

24 July 2026

All Saints Church Hall in Gobowen

All Saints Church Hall in Gobowen has received a £2,500 donation from Persimmon Homes West Midlands through its Community Champions scheme.

The donation supported a major sustainability project at the Church Hall, helping to install an air source heat pump, an electric water heater, improved insulation and solar panels.

The Church Hall is a vital hub for the local community, with a community café, baby and toddler group, craft group, choir, and private hire throughout the year. These initiatives play an important role in reducing social isolation and creating a welcoming space for the local community.

The cheque was formally presented to All Saints Church Hall in Gobowen by Councillor Erica Morgan, Chair of Selattyn and Gobowen Parish Council, and Elaine Brown, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes West Midlands.

Lindsay Ritchie, Treasurer at All Saints Church Hall in Gobowen, commented:

“We are incredibly grateful to Persimmon Homes for their generous donation that helped us to complete a project that will benefit our local community for years to come.

The completed project has created a warmer, more comfortable space that can also be cooled during hot weather, while reducing energy costs and helping keep hall hire affordable for local community groups.”

Erica Morgan, Chair of Selattyn and Gobowen Parish Council, added:

“On behalf of Selattyn and Gobowen Parish Council, I would like to thank Persimmon Homes for their £2500 Community Champions donation. The money has helped the committee to reduce their carbon footprint by buying air conditioning units for the hall which will run off solar panels, providing a cool meeting space in the summer heat.”

Elaine Brown, Sales Director Persimmon Homes West Midlands, commented:

"We are proud to support Gobowen Village Hall through our Community Champions scheme.

It is fantastic to see our donation helping to fund energy-efficient improvements that will reduce the hall's environmental impact, lower running costs and ensure this valued community facility remains affordable, accessible and welcoming for local residents."
