Kilwinning footballers score funding boost

Persimmon West Scotland donates £4,000 to support youth teams and Under-20s Development Team at Kilwinning Community Sports Club.

Persimmon West Scotland has provided a £4,000 boost to Kilwinning Community Sports Club to strengthen its youth football pathway and support their Under-20s Development Team.

The donation will help cover the cost of essential kits, footballs, training equipment and First Aid supplies for players aged five up to twenty, with all teams following the club’s ethos of “One Town, One Club” under the umbrella of Kilwinning Rangers.

While players and parents contribute monthly subscriptions to use the club’s facilities, this does not extend to strips or equipment, meaning most teams rely on their own fundraising. Persimmon’s support will ease this pressure, ensuring young players have the resources needed to play and train competitively.

The Under-20s Development Team carries the largest financial burden as it looks to compete nationally. At an age where dropout rates in football are high, the donation will help reduce barriers, allowing young people to remain in the game without financial worries.

Chris Logan, Persimmon West Scotland Managing Director, said:

“Grassroots sport plays such an important role in communities, giving young people a safe and positive environment to develop, grow, and enjoy the game they love.

“Kilwinning Community Sports Club’s pathway offers opportunities for boys and girls of all ages, and we’re proud to support them with this funding to help secure the future of the new Under-20s team.”

Alan McAlpine, Kilwinning Community Sports Club said:

“We can’t thank Persimmon enough for supporting our Under 20s Development Team. A large number of the boys in this team have played at the club since they were 4 and 5 years of age so this funding allows them to continue and helps secure the future of this fantastic team.”

The donation comes through Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which sees each of the company’s 29 regional businesses donate £24,000 every year to good causes in their local areas.

Persimmon Homes is creating a new community, Byrehill Grange, in Kilwinning, featuring three-bedroom homes starting from £210,000. Visit their website to learn more about these energy-efficient homes and the time-limited incentives available.
