Local children explore new development with Persimmon Homes

Pupils from The Shade Primary School, Soham were recently given a behind the scenes look at new homes close to their school, thanks to a site visit hosted by Persimmon Homes East Midlands.

The visit offered students a chance to see first-hand how new homes are built, with the site team providing an engaging overview of the construction process, site safety, and the different roles involved in bringing a development to life. Located close to the school, the development sparked particular interest among the pupils, many of whom already had personal connections to the area.

During the visit, two pupils shared their excitement about moving into new homes on the development and got to see the next stage of their homes being built, while others spoke about family links, including grandparents already living at Newman Fields.

The visit forms part of our ongoing commitment to engaging with local communities and supporting educational opportunities that inspire young people and broaden their understanding of future career paths.

Seeing their enthusiasm was a real highlight, especially hearing that some of them will soon be living here or already have family connections to the development. At the end of the visit, pupils were each given construction themed books to take away, helping to reinforce what they had learned on site and continue their interest in how homes are built.
