New homes move a step closer in Shrewsbury
12 May 2026
Planning approval has been granted for more than 200 new homes on the edge of Shrewsbury bringing new affordable housing, green space, and investment into the area.
Persimmon Homes West Midlands has secured consent for 226 homes on land off Thrower Road, which already had outline permission for housing.
The development will include a mix of one to four-bedroom homes, with 91 properties set aside for affordable rent, shared ownership, and discounted sale.
Around five acres of public open space will also be created, alongside a new play area and landscaping designed to support biodiversity across the site.
All homes will be built to modern energy standards and will include solar panels and electric vehicle charging points as standard.
As part of the development, Persimmon will contribute £1.7 million towards local education through Section 106 funding and a further c.£540,000 through the Community Infrastructure Levy towards local infrastructure and services.
The site sits within easy reach of local schools, shops, and transport links, helping to provide new homes for local people in a sustainable location.
Lee Perry, Technical Director for Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “We’re pleased to have secured approval for these new homes in Shrewsbury.
“We’ve worked closely with officers throughout the process and look forward to delivering a well-designed development with green space and homes people can be proud of.”
