Persimmon donation for South Wales community group

03 August 2026

The Llanharan Community Development Project has received a cheque for £2,000 from our West Wales region the major nearby Llanilid Village scheme.

Persimmon Homes West Wales, made the donation as part of our Community Champions programme and marked it alongside staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries of the project as well as local councillors Cllr David Evans and Cllr Janine Turner.

Llanharan Community Development Project – who also received a donation from Persimmon two years ago – supports families by providing childcare, support groups, adult learning groups, and a range of other community initiatives across Llanharan and the surrounding areas.

The Community Development Project relies on the support of a dedicated team of staff and local volunteers, with Persimmon’s donation going towards supporting the renovation of their community centre. Staff and volunteers provide childcare provision, play and youth services, citizens advice sessions, adult wellbeing classes, and much more.

Our Community Champions scheme donates £48,000 each year to community organisations and good causes across South Wales. Recent local recipients include Brynna FC Juniors, Pontyclun Athletic Club, Beddau RFC, and Llanharan Community Council.

In Llanharan, Persimmon are developing sites at Michaels Grove and Morgans Walk to meet the local housing demand. Persimmon’s quality new homes at Michaels Grove and Morgans Walk are now available with prices ranging from £188,996 to £450,000.

Sharon Bouhali, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said:

“The Llanharan Community Development Project does fantastic work across the area, whether they be old or young, and provides excellent resources for local people. With Persimmon providing hundreds of new homes at Llanilid Village nearby, it makes complete sense for us to give our support to the Project when it has so much to offer our residents.”

Jolene Allen of Llanharan Community Development Project, added:

“We’re really grateful to Persimmon for supporting us once again through their Community Champions fund. It is another huge boost that allows us to continue to our wide-ranging services, activities, and facilities for the benefit of Llanharan and the surrounding area.”

Cllr Janine Turner commented:

“I have seen directly the amazing work that the Project does in our community, and they are a first-class asset for Llanharan and the wider area. I’m delighted Persimmon has supported them once again through their charity programme and we’d welcome funding from other sources too.”

Cllr David Evans also said:

“It is always welcome when a business like Persimmon lends a helping hand to much-valued organisations like the Project and I know they, like other local Community Champions winners, are really appreciative of this support.”
