You probably know it from bottles on supermarket shelves, but the water from Buxton has been drawing in tourists and even royalty for centuries. Set on the River Wye, the town has a geothermal spring which became a highly popular and lucrative attractionthath led to the growth of the town and the creation of many beautiful buildings including the Grade-I listed Crescent.
Location
Buxton is England's highest market town. It's in the heart of the Peak District National Park so it's surrounded by wonderful countryside. The A53, A515 and A6020 are the main routes that serve the town connecting it with some of the larger towns around the edge of the Peak District, including Manchester to the north and Macclesfield to the west. Buxton's railway station runs services to Stockport and Manchester on the Northern Line. It takes under an hour to get to Manchester Piccadilly.
