Cumbernauld

Back in the 1950s Cumbernauld was designated as one of Scotland’s new towns and grew from a tiny village into a city. Today, your new home retains its modernist past with brave architecture, public artworks, town underpasses and brutalist buildings.

The town centre is home to the first ever shopping centre in the UK, the Cumbernauld Centre and is packed with shops and eateries as well as a sports centre, schools, college and places of worship. Town planners included 50% green space and four nature reserves when designing the town, and it has received a clutch of awards including a Beautiful Scotland Award for Best Small City and a Garden for Life Bio-Diversity Award.

Brilliant road and rail links

Your new build is brilliantly connected with the M80 passing above the town. To the west the M80 links with the M73, M74 and M8, and to the northeast it links with the M876 and the M9. This makes for easy commutes to Glasgow (13 miles), Falkirk (10 miles), Stirling (14 miles), Edinburgh (38 miles) and Dunfermline (27 miles) making the town a great choice for commuters. Direct train services into Glasgow Queen Street station take around half an hour. There are good bus services throughout the town, as well as a bus link to Glasgow Airport.

So many schools!

There are 16 primary schools, four high schools, two SEN schools and a campus of New College Lanarkshire is also in the town. Your new house is part of a distinct residential design where each area has its own local schools, some of which have been re-built and now offer state-of-the-art facilities.

Great infrastructure from food to wildfowl

The town has a great mix of local and independent shops, national brands in the shopping centres and retail parks, supermarkets and superstores, you’ll not be far from all these options. Glasgow is in your sights for a day of dedicated retail therapy, followed by a night out. The Tryst Sports Centre, the Palacerigg Golf Course, the Ravenswood Playing Fields and the Broadwood Stadium, are just some of the venues close by. If you'd like some fresh air and nature spotting, head to the Palacerigg Country Park, the Drumpellier Country Park, the Seven Lochs Wetland Park or the Cumbernauld Glen Wildlife Reserve.
