Builder bucks for Beddau RFC

A South Wales rugby club’s Under Sevens’ side is the latest winner of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions funding.

Beddau RFC secured £2,000 from the accredited five-star builder’s East Wales business, based a few minutes’ drive away in Llantrisant, with the cheque presented to its players in March.

The club, which can trace its origins back to around 1900, is a feeder club for Cardiff Blues and can count former Wales and British & Irish Lions stars Gethin Jenkins, Michael Owen, Gareth Prothero, and Steve Fenwick among their former players.

It’s Under Sevens side will use the cash for new kits and training equipment, the support of a qualified coach, and travel and participation costs for an upcoming rugby tour at Butlins in Minehead.

Persimmon’s Community Champions programme sees £50,000 awarded to good causes and much-valued organisations across Wales each year, with recent local recipients including the Cardiff Lord Mayor charities, Hope Rescue, Radyr Rangers Football Festival, Creigiau Primary School, and the MND Association Cardiff & Vale.

Persimmon has high-quality homes for sale across South Wales including at The Parish in northwest Cardiff, where three and four-bed homes are currently for sale from £334,995. Sister company Charles Church also has an outlet here, Glan y Coed, with four and five-bed properties available from £544,995.
