Consultation launched to bring Aldi to Persimmon site in Plymouth
17 February 2026
A major supermarket is consulting on opening a store branch at Persimmon’s Saltram Meadows site in Plymstock.
Aldi is offering major investment and delivering improved shopping choice for the community, all as part of the accredited five-star housebuilder’s Cornwall & West Devon’s business’ commitment to leaving a positive and lasting legacy and building a sense of place at its developments.
Aldi is inviting the community to learn more about the plans and share their views as the proposal is finalised. The proposal includes:
- An investment of £8m, including new community food store
- Around 40 new local jobs, paid at a sector-leading rate, above the National Living Wage
- 112 car parking spaces including accessible spaces and parent & child spaces
- Four electric vehicle charging points with additional infrastructure installed so further points can be added in the future
- New employment opportunities created during construction and supported through the supply chain
- Attractive landscaping incorporated around the site to improve its appearance and biodiversity
Persimmon Cornwall & West Devon Technical Director, Robbie Brown said:
“We are pleased to welcome Aldi to Plymstock and are delighted to be working with them. The new store would be a positive addition to Saltram Meadow and a real asset for local people and the wider Plymstock community.”
