Passion for design

An Anglian couple’s passion for interior design has won them thousands of Instagram followers and an ambassador role for Persimmon Homes.
Kate and Troy Bladon, who live at the Bluebell Meadows development in Bradwell, were selected by Persimmon to share images of their stunning new home to inspire other house buyers.
Their @the_bladons_roseberry Instagram account has already attracted more than 3,600 fans, with hundreds liking and commenting on posts that showcase Kate’s love of design and interior styling.
“I am always on Instagram looking for inspiration,” Kate confessed. “I follow interior designers Sophie Paterson and Laura Hammett and love to emulate their luxe style.
“Troy laughs because I am forever buying décor pieces and changing things around, but I do always try to be frugal. I love finding bargains on Facebook Marketplace that I can upcycle, and my favourite shops are Ikea for wardrobes, H&M for pretty décor and, best of all, TK Maxx for unusual finds.
“We prefer neutral tones, which create a serene backdrop that you can integrate colour schemes into.”
Their home is the popular four bedroom Roseberry design, which has an open-plan dining kitchen which flows through double doors into a spacious living room.
Kate said: “Troy’s brother, who already lived on an earlier phase at Bluebell Meadow, suggested we have a look at the showhome. As soon as we saw the floorplan for the Roseberry design house we knew: ‘this is it!’.
“The house has everything we were looking for – an open plan sociable living space, ideal for hosting, a good-sized garden and great location, close to family”
And it was this that led the couple to Bradwell – more than 6,500 miles from Kate’s original home in the Philippines. They met in 2014, got married and lived in Malta for a couple of years but wanted to move back to the UK to be closer to Troy’s relatives.
Reserving their house off-plan meant they could follow the house’s progress, visiting the site during construction and able to choose their Finishing Touches.
“I had no idea how stressful it would be, there were so many decisions to make.,” said Kate. “It was overwhelming but very exciting too. We were able to make the home our own from the very beginning, choosing every detail.”
Just a year after moving into their home, Kate and Troy have made their mark on every part of the house – including a spectacular office-cum-wardrobe with fitted Ikea storage and a clean desk space for Kate who works from home as a virtual assistant.
Kate adds: “The master bedroom is the most finished room in the house, now we have wallpapered and completed all the little details. I was quite unsettled until it was finished, but now it is so comfortable and I sleep like a baby! This really is the perfect home for us.”
