Safety posters designed by school pupils are first class

Artistic pupils from two Hethersett primary schools have created safety posters for a construction site close to their schools.
Persimmon Homes Anglia asked pupils from Hethersett Primary and Hethersett Woodside to help them raise awareness and keep people safe on site as they forge ahead on the latest phase of the Kett’s Meadow development.
Quantity Surveyor Frankie Sands contacted schools and asked pupils to create bright posters that give a safety message, then collected them so the judges could choose their favourites.
Sales Director Jorden Knell was so impressed with their efforts that he arranged for six designs to be blown up and displayed not only at Kett’s Meadow but also at our other sites across the region.
Jorden said: “The pupils have shown a great talent for art and design, while also showing the importance of safety on a construction site like this. We hope this project has helped the children within these two schools to stay safe, and that their posters share that message to many more.”
Matthew Parslow-Williams, Head Teacher at Hethersett VC Primary School said: “It has been great to form a partnership with Persimmon and take part in this project, because we want to ensure our children are safe not only in school, but outside too.”
Paige Galer, Year 4 teacher at Hethersett Woodside Primary, added: “This has been a good opportunity for the children to think about construction, in terms of site safety but also for future careers. It has inspired the children and some have said they would now like to work in the industry when they are older.”
Cllrs Kathryn Cross and David Bills, who represent Hethersett at South Norfolk District Council, visited the new community to see the posters in place and said: “The children have shown great enthusiasm in producing these pieces, and we are delighted to see Persimmon working in partnership with our schools to get the message home to the right people that building sites can be dangerous places.”
