Application submitted for Warminster infrastructure
02 December 2024
The developer behind the Jubilee Gardens site in Warminster has submitted its plans for public green spaces to Wiltshire Council for approval.
Should they receive sign-off from planning officials, Persimmon Homes Wessex will be able to begin work on delivering elements that will create a sense of place and a sustainable community for residents.
These include two sports areas – which include senior and youth football pitches with changing facilities – allotments, public open space, and an ecology area.
The news comes after the Council approved the next phase of 168 homes on-site back in May, which also included a large section of the spine road, surrounding public open space, sustainable urban drainage systems, cycle link, and an area of floating wetland.
Jubilee Gardens in Warminster will see Persimmon invest millions of pounds in the area through land for a new primary school, significant areas of open space including equipped children’s play areas, and two areas of sports pitches with changing rooms.
A local centre, allotments, public art, employment land, public footpath improvements, new pedestrian and cycle routes, ecological enhancements including a dedicated ecology area will also be delivered.
Significant financial contributions will also be made towards education provision, bus services connecting the scheme with town centre, signal upgrades to improve vehicle movements in the town centre, health care in Warminster, and enhancements to local public rights of way.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes Wessex Deputy Managing Director Seb Spiller said:
“Persimmon is proud of our mission to build sustainable communities and leaving a positive legacy in the areas in which we develop, so I am pleased that we’ve submitted this application.
"Our exciting development at Jubilee Gardens is already delivering quality new homes for local families. These latest plans for public green spaces mark the next step in our commitment to providing high-quality amenities and facilities for our residents.
“The sports areas, along with the allotments, public open spaces, and an ecology area, are essential to transforming this site into a thriving community and turning houses into homes.
"Through the delivery of this public infrastructure, our site in Warminster will continue to be a wonderful place for our customers and future residents to enjoy –whether as first-time buyers, families, or retirees."
“We look forward to working with officers to make this vision a reality.”
Two and three-bed homes are currently for sale at Jubilee Gardens, available from £259,995.
