Central team gives £1,000 cash boost to opera company
26 March 2024
An opera and choral arts charity based in central Birmingham has secured a £1,000 donation from our Central team.
Persona Arts - based in the city centre - stages high quality opera, classical and choral music workshops, performances and productions for the benefit of communities in the West Midlands. The group is also committed to providing opportunities for singers, musicians and creative artists to perform and develop their craft in a supportive and educational environment.
Our funding has helped to support the charity’s upcoming production of the Flying Dutchman which will take place in July of this year.
Byron Jackson FRSA, Founder & Artistic Director of Persona Arts said: “We are extremely grateful that Persimmon has awarded a £1,000 grant to Persona Arts. This support helps realise our forthcoming production of the Flying Dutchman on 7, 10 & 13 July 2024 at the Bradshaw Hall, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Staged by the Artistic Director of the Commonwealth Games 2022 opening ceremony, Iqbal Khan, this will be a culmination of a two-year project of inspiring, educating and recruiting diverse volunteers, community singers and young people to take part in one of Wagner's most celebrated and exciting operas. This production from unique BME leaderships will be the first of its kind in the UK”
Sarah Preston, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Central, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to local community groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”
“It’s great to see that our donation will help Persona Arts to host their upcoming production in the summer.”
