A major housebuilder has given its support through a £1,000 donation to the Oxford Hospitals Charity.
Persimmon Homes Wessex presented the cheque to the charity at John Radcliffe Hospital in the city as part of its Community Champions programme, which sees £700,000 donated to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain each year.
Oxford Hospitals Charity helps to transform care through funding the best medical equipment, research, training, and facilities for its patients and staff.
Donations have helped create the Cancer and Heart Centres in Oxford and the Brodey Cancer Centre at the Horton General, as well as the Oxford Children's Hospital.
The charity has a wide and diverse footprint, from small projects like providing quality reclining chairs for cancer patients having lengthy chemotherapy to larger ones such as funding computerised surgical equipment to help talented surgeons with complicated of operations.
The accredited five-star housebuilder’s Wessex business has two major sites in Oxfordshire: Wellington Gate in Grove and Valley Park in Didcot. Two, three, and four bed homes are available from £239,995.
Recent local recipients of Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme include Sustainable Didcot, Vale and Downland Museum, Sustainable Wantage, 12th Didcot Scouts Group, Oxford Careers Festival, Abingdon & Witney College, Wantage Literary Festival, and Oxford Food Hub.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes Wessex Sales Director Pauline Fletcher said:
“Through our Community Champions scheme, Persimmon Homes proudly supports organisations like Oxford Hospitals Charity, recognising their invaluable role in providing support to the local hospitals in the Oxfordshire community.
“As we continue to build developments like Wellington Gate and Valley Park, we hope to demonstrate our commitment to fostering a culture of giving back as part of our mission to leave a positive and lasting legacy in the areas in which we build.
“We know our customers and residents across Oxfordshire will end up relying on the help of local hospitals at least once in their lives, so we’re pleased to have this opportunity to help.”
Jamie French, Hospital Engagement Manager at Oxford Hospitals Charity said:
“I’d like to share a big thank you with the Persimmon team for their donation. It was great to meet them at our charity hub to accept their kind gift of £1,000.”
