15 May 2025

One of the builders behind the major Valley Park development has donated £1,000 to a local environmental group.
Persimmon Homes Wessex presented the £1,000 cheque to Sustainable Didcot as part of its Community Champions programme.
Sustainable Didcot is a Community Action Group focused on activities that protect and enhance the natural environment and strengthen the local community. It is largely run by volunteers interested in actions that have a positive impact and increase our resourcefulness and resilience as a community.
Their current initiatives include running a local repair cafe, clothing exchange, speaking to local groups, 'Borrow Library', allotment project, and community workshops.
The five-star developer has two, three, and four-bed homes for sale from £245,995 at Valley Park in western Didcot. This new community will benefit from amenities including two primary schools, an SEN school, local centres, and sports facilities, all within easy reach of further shops, schools, restaurants and services in bustling Didcot.
All Persimmon properties here will be equipped with sustainable features including air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points, and solar panels.
Persimmon donates £700,000 to good causes and much-valued organisations across Britain each year as part of its Community Champions initiative. Recent local recipients include 12th Didcot Scouts Group, Sustainable Wantage, and Oxford Careers Festival.
Commenting, Pauline Fletcher – Persimmon Homes Wessex’s sales director – said:
“Persimmon is very proud of our pro-environment credentials, whether that means the high sustainability standards of the homes we build or the biodiversity elements we deliver on and off our sites.
“So, we are happy to support a local organisation like Sustainable Didcot, especially given our significant presence at Valley Park, through our Community Champions programme.
“Sustainable Didcot have a great programme of works, which I am sure will be of benefit to residents of Valley Park, present and future.”
Di Chesterman – Chair of Sustainable Didcot – added:
“We are thrilled that Persimmon has chosen Sustainable Didcot as worthy winners of its Community Champions scheme, especially given their significant presence in the town.
“These funds will help us grow the organisation and increase the amount of work we do and the support services we provide, so we’re very grateful for this support.”
