Larkhall & District Volunteer Group (LDVG), a local charity in South Lanarkshire, is celebrating a generous £5,000 donation from Persimmon West Scotland, helping them continue their vital work in supporting the local community.
LDVG focuses on promoting the well-being of older adults and reducing social isolation through a variety of services and activities. With 360 members and 96 volunteers, the group runs essential initiatives including a weekday check-in call line for vulnerable individuals, lunch clubs that offer nutritious meals and social interaction, and a free handyperson service to assist older and disabled residents with minor DIY tasks.
The donation from our West Scotland team will help LDVG continue to run its wide array of activity groups, including IT, gardening, and walking groups, as well as its community transport service, which provides crucial access to shopping and NHS appointments for older residents.
This donation is part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, which supports charities and causes in areas where the company operates. The programme has seen over £360,000 donated across Scotland in the last five years, helping build stronger, more connected communities.
Chris Logan, Managing Director at Persimmon West Scotland, said “We’re delighted to support Larkhall & District Volunteer Group, an organisation that provides such important services to the community. It’s wonderful to see the positive impact they have on reducing social isolation and promoting well-being for older residents. Through our Community Champions scheme, we’re committed to helping local groups thrive, and we’re proud to contribute to their ongoing work.”
Sandra McCrory, Charity Manager (CEO) at Larkhall & District Volunteer Group added “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon for their generous donation which will go towards supporting our vital services and activities. It’s great to see local house builders like Persimmon investing in our community. We are hopeful that this is the beginning of a great new partnership which both organisations will benefit from.”
