Persimmon’s employee charity panel boosts fundraising efforts for Children’s Hospital in Wales

Persimmon Homes is proud to highlight the ongoing success of its Employee Charity Panel, this time through a donation in South Wales.
The housebuilder’s panel meets every two months to review submissions from colleagues about causes close to their hearts. Whether it's supporting a local sports club, a children’s after-school programme in need of new equipment, or starting a new challenge like repainting a venue for a charity or organising a team cycling event, employees can apply for financial support. The Employee Charity Panel awards between £50 and £500 to help make a difference in our communities.
David Morgan, a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Persimmon Homes, recently experienced being successful in the Employee Charity Panel firsthand. David’s son, Lewis, underwent a life-changing nine-hour operation on his spine at the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales. In gratitude, David has been fundraising for the hospital charity and received a £500 boost to his efforts from the Employee Charity Panel.
Lewis suffers from scoliosis, a condition that causes curvatures of the spine and can lead to severe mobility issues and detrimental effects on the heart and lungs if left untreated.
Commenting, David said:
“It was a long recovery, but thanks to the children’s hospital, he’s now back at school and doing really well.
He’s most pleased about the fact that he’s gained three inches in height from the operation!”
David’s dedication to giving back didn’t stop there. He embarked on three challenging cycling events within just four weeks.
In May, David completed an impressive 186-mile ride from London to Paris in 24 hours. Just a week later, alongside his West Wales colleagues Matthew Mellor and Brad Mills, he took part in the CARTEN100, a 107-mile cycle from Cardiff to Tenby, sponsored by Persimmon Homes. Two weeks after that, he participated in Ford Ride London, a 103-mile bike ride around London and Essex.
Persimmon West Wales Managing Director, Stuart Phillips said:
“We are incredibly proud of David and all our employees who go above and beyond to support their communities.”
“As a business, Persimmon has a longstanding Community Champions initiative which supports good local causes and organisations to the tune of nearly £50,000 a year across Wales and our Employee Charity Panel is just another way we can help make a difference.”
