Planning secured for 192 new homes at major Wantage site

The Vale of White Horse District Council has granted planning permission for 192 new homes in Grove, Wantage in a boost for local aspiring homeowners.
Wessex region, secured approval this week for the next phase of its Wellington Gate site.
A wide range of quality new homes will be available for local people by Wessex region and its sister brand, Charles Church. As part of the planning permission and wider community benefit, Persimmon will also transfer 51 properties on the next phase to a housing association for the purposes of affordable and social housing for local people.
Persimmon’s Wellington Gate site, situated on the old airfield between Wantage and Grove, will see 2,500 high-quality homes constructed for local people once complete. Currently available for purchase are, two, three, four and five-bed properties from £274,995.
Wessex region will also be delivering two primary schools, serviced land for a secondary school, community hub, sports facilities, play pitches, play areas, public open spaces and allotments as part of the new sustainable community.
The masterplan for Wellington Gate is based on a Green Infrastructure Strategy, developed to create a connected, multi-functional network of green spaces and corridors.
