Two charities have received a total cash boost of £35,000, thanks to two golf days held by the team at South Midlands.

Members of the Studley-based team as well as our subcontractors and suppliers took to the course in 2023 and 2024 to raise much needed funds for Parkinson’s UK and Myton Hospice. In total, 100 players took part, with contractors – including sponsors Twinoaks Landscaping, S&R Construction, Erris Builders, Shannonside Civil Engineering, McAuliffes, Harley Finishings and UPOWA - donating prizes to give players encouragement during the day. The event was also attended by PGA professional golfer, Hannah Bowen.
The Myton Hospices believe that everyone matters for every single moment of their life, focusing on enhancing life when cure is no longer an option; supporting people living with a terminal illness, and their families, from the point of diagnosis to end of life. The team are leaders in compassionate end of life care; their work centres on patient wellbeing and involving them in decisions about their care.
The team at Parkinson's UK work to fund the right research into the most promising treatments, getting closer to a cure every day. Until then, the team is here for everyone affected by Parkinson’s, fighting for fair treatment and better services.

Chris Willmott, Partnerships Manager at The Myton Hospices, said:

“A huge thank you to everyone who made this truly amazing donation possible.
“To Persimmon Homes South Midlands for organising and hosting the event and to everyone who took part and donated so generously on the day to support two such very worthy causes.
“We simply cannot do what we do without wonderful donations like this and have never needed the support more to be able to continue to provide our services free of charge to patients across Coventry and Warwickshire.
“Thank you on behalf of everyone at Myton and, most importantly, on behalf of our patients and their loved ones whose lives this donation will make such a difference to.”

Aaron Coleman, Community Fundraiser at Parkinson's UK said:

“Parkinson's UK would like to thank Persimmon South Midlands for their continued support. With more than 40 potential symptoms, Parkinson’s can devastate lives, so without the generosity from organisations like Persimmon South Midlands, our work would not be possible.
"There is no cure for Parkinson's and it is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. In the West Midlands alone there are an estimated 4,290 people living with the condition. Every hour, two more people in the UK are diagnosed, meaning 1 in 37 people alive today will be diagnosed with Parkinson's in their lifetime."

Russell Griffin, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said:

“What we do is about so much more than building quality homes; it’s also about supporting the communities in which we build in a number of ways.
“At Persimmon, we encourage our team to raise funds for causes close to their hearts and it’s great to know that our golf days across 2023 and 2024 have had such a significant impact on Myton Hospice and Parkinson’s UK, two charities close to the team’s hearts.”
