Telford colleagues brave the Three Peaks challenge
07 November 2022

More than a dozen colleagues at a Telford housebuilder scaled the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales to raise almost £12,000 for charity.
Fourteen colleagues at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, based in Stafford Park, trained hard to complete the gruelling challenge.
The fundraisers climbed Snowdon in Wales (1,085m), Scafell Pike in England (978m) and Ben Nevis in Scotland (1,345m) over an action-packed 24 hours.
They raised funds for three local charities; Severn Hospice, Hope House and Derwen College.
George Armstrong, Quantity Surveyor at Persimmon, said: “We all had our own training plans as we prepared for what we knew would be a huge challenge.
“All three of the chosen charities undertake essential work for people who need it most.
“Some of our participants have personal links with the chosen charities and that spurred us on to complete the challenge.
We completed it with 24 seconds to go so it goes without saying we had a sprint finish!”
The total walking distance of The Three Peaks Challenge is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3,064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance. The total driving distance is 462 miles.
Stephen Cleveley, Regional Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Central West, said: “We are really proud of all of our colleagues who are took on this mammoth challenge in aid of three great causes.
“We had a few sore legs when they returned to work and a valuation meeting for the QS’s!”
