Work begins on new Kirkcaldy homes
27 October 2022

Construction work is underway to build more than 70 new homes in the latest phase of the new development in Kirkcaldy.
The work will see 73 new two, three and four bedroom homes built at the Rosslyn Gait development, as part of a project that will deliver 1,088 new homes in the area – 163 of which will be transferred to housing association partners. The investment will include funding for a new primary school and community hall, as well as new commercial and leisure facilities.
With the average price of a Persimmon home 18% below the average price of a new build in Scotland, the Rosslyn Gait development will create an affordable route to home ownership for more families across Fife.
We are one of Fife’s biggest house builders – with sites in Dunfermline, Wormit, Guardbridge and Markinch – and the home builder has ambitious plans to build nearly 1,200 new homes across Fife over the next five years.
These developments will also create a number of opportunities for local young people to develop their skills and gain valuable experience of the construction sector. As is one of Scotland’s largest employers of bricklaying apprentices and in September this year, we reached a record 43 apprentices across the country. This includes four apprentices in Fife.
James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland Managing Director, said:
“I’m delighted to see work begin on the latest phase of our Rosslyn Gait development, which will open the door to home ownership for more families in Kirkcaldy and across Fife.
“Fife needs more new homes and we’re committed to working with local partners to create vibrant, successful and sustainable communities that bring real benefits for local people.
“As one of Fife’s biggest house builders, we’re proud to have achieved a five-star award from the Home Builders Federation – the highest possible rating – which demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the highest standards of design, construction and service for our customers in Kirkcaldy and across the country.”
