Children from a Kingsthorpe primary school were treated to a special site visit at the nearby Scholars Green development to learn more about the history of their neighbourhood.
Year 6 children from Green Oaks Primary Academy were welcomed to the news homes site to learn about the site’s rich history with a talk from Midlands contracts manager Jim Wilkinson.
Area sales manager Ginny Hughes said: “We are lucky to have good links with schools close to many of our developments, and are always happy to support their learning with visits to our sites.
“The Green Oaks students enjoyed a short presentation about the history of Kingsthorpe and how the site that Scholar’s Green stands on was originally a deer hunting park. They discovered that ownership passed through many hands before the Northampton College was established here, then the University of Northampton, from whom we bought the site.
“The children were very well behaved and eager to learn how the land’s use has changed over time and the differences in the ways houses were built in the past and how we build them today.”
Persimmon Midlands is creating more than 600 two, three, four and five bedroom homes at Scholars Green, on Boughton Green Road.
