The final phase of work at a major Cardiff development has begun as the ambitious six-year project nears its conclusion.
Persimmon has started the final tranche of work at the St Edeyrn’s Village scheme on land between the M4 and the A48, close to Cardiff Gate Business Park.
The final phase of 186 properties – known as Bluebell Meadows – will be made up of two, three and four-bedroom homes.
Work started on the development, one of the biggest residential projects in Cardiff’s history, in 2016. A total of 1,020 properties are being built – 782 of which have now been completed.
Work on a new £6m primary school on site is also scheduled to begin next month. St Mellons Church in Wales Primary School will relocate from its current site in Llanrumney to occupy the state-of-the-art building from 2023.
Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “It seems like only yesterday we were looking at the vast swathe of land and talking about the launch of St Edeyrn’s Village. Now, some six years on, a wonderful community has emerged and the project is nearing completion.
“This was one of our most ambitious projects to date. We have thousands of happy customers already enjoying life in these modern edge-of-city homes and we look forward to releasing the first of the Bluebell Meadow properties onto the market in the coming weeks.
“Demand in the St Edeyrn’s Village project has been huge right from day one and we’re certain that this final phase will prove equally as popular.”
The Government-backed Help to Buy – Wales scheme is available at St Ederyn’s Village, an initiative where buyers only need a five per cent deposit.
