MD welcomes Caister planning decision

Anglia region has welcomed Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s green light for up to 665 new homes in Caister and thanked the local community for their involvement in the proposals.

Managing director Michelle Baker said: “The resolution to approve our development off Jack Chase Way could not have been achieved without the engagement of borough and parish council officers, those local residents who submitted feedback on our proposals and, of course, the diligent work of the Persimmon land and planning team to carefully consider all points of view.

“We are very pleased with the council’s decision and will continue to liaise with all interested parties to ensure this development meets the needs of Caister now and for many years into the future.”

Anglia's region proposals for the Nova Scotia Farm site received the support of Great Yarmouth Borough Council on a majority vote, subject to the completion of the S106 legal agreement which is expected later this year.

Anglia region head of planning, Debi Sherman, added: “This development will create a range of homes designed to suit local buyers, especially young people and first-time buyers who otherwise might struggle to get onto the housing ladder.

“In addition, we will deliver facilities for all the community by providing land for a local centre of shops, medical centre and care home, a primary school with playing pitches, and generous levels of recreational space.

“Our next step is to negotiate the s106 legal agreement that establishes our financial and infrastructure commitments, with the aim of submitting the detailed planning application for the first phase of the development later this year.”

Anglia region, which operates new homes developments across Norfolk and Suffolk, hopes to welcome the first residents to the Caister site in early 2024.
