Wilpshire residents asked to share opinions on new homes plans

Our Lancashire region has invited the people of Wilpshire to contribute to its plans for new homes in the village.

Almost 350 local households have been contacted for their views on proposals for approximately 106 new properties on a site at Salesbury View.

John Roocroft, managing director of Persimmon Lancashire, said: “We are committed to delivering the right homes for each community where we build, and gathering views from across the neighbourhood is an important factor in a project’s success.

“Normally we would invite people to a public exhibition event, where they could view the proposals and speak directly to the planning team but, to maintain social distancing and keep the community safe, we are asking people to post or email their comments to our consultation team.

“The site has already been identified by Ribble Valley Borough Council as the most sustainable location in Wilpshire that will help to meet the identified local housing need, and our proposals will also generate considerable economic investment in the area.”

Persimmon has set out plans for 106 homes, ranging from two to five bedrooms to suit a variety of local purchasers. As part of its commitment to developing healthy and sustainable communities, the scheme retains existing trees and hedgerows where possible as well as providing additional new planting and open green space.

As part of the planning application submission, technical assessments – including flood risk, highways impact and ecology – will be undertaken to demonstrate the suitability of the site for residential development.

Persimmon pledges that the design of the homes will make careful use of natural resources and adopt a responsible attitude towards the environment, to ensure a sustainable development that will meet the requirements of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

All interested parties are invited to share their opinions no later than 7 January 2022 by email to [email protected] with the subject line ‘FAO Salesbury View Consultation’ or post to Salesbury View Consultation, Queens House, Queen Street, Manchester M2 5HT.

John Roocroft added: “The public consultation provides local people with the chance to consider our proposals and give their opinions which will help us to finalise our planning application. We thank the Wilpshire community for working in partnership with us to create sustainable new homes that meet their village’s needs for now and into the future.”
