A member of our Central team has received an award from Sandwell College for her excellent work as she completes an apprenticeship in Carpentry.

Sophie Grahame divides her time between our sites in the Central division and Sandwell College, where she is completing a Level 2 apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery. Upon completion of her apprenticeship, Sophie will become a fully qualified carpenter and join the Persimmon team full time.

Receiving the accolade of Apprentice of the Month, Sophie was commended on her enthusiasm, quality of work and ability. This award will see Sophie put forward for Apprentice of the Year at Sandwell College, with the winner announced at the end of 2023.

Sophie said: “It’s really great to have won Apprentice of the Month and for my work to be recognised in this way. Since starting on the apprenticeship, I’ve found the work to be very interesting and being able to learn practical skills alongside the theory side at college makes the role varied and well-rounded.”

Trevor Brooks-Jones, Construction Director at Persimmon Homes Central said: “We’re incredibly proud of Sophie for being awarded Apprentice of the Month for all of her great work. Sophie has been eager and enthusiastic since joining us, so it’s no surprise that her hard work has paid off.

“Sophie’s willingness to learn and positive attitude will continue to serve her well and she has an incredibly bright future ahead of her. The whole team wish her the very best of luck as she now goes forward for Apprentice of the Year.”
