Persimmon attends South Wales Careers Fair

One of Britain’s leading housing developers attended a Careers Fair in Bridgend to speak with students about their future.

The Bridgend Choose Your Future event was attended by dozens of business from various sectors in June, with pupils from years 10-12 and college students from across the county borough invited.

Persimmon Homes West Wales Regional Build Quality Director Carl Davey, who was at the fair, was promoting the house-builder as a career option.

Persimmon runs a training academy in partnership with Bridgend College in Llanidid, near Pontyclun. The academy, recently visited by the Welsh Economy Minister, takes on apprentices to teach them new skills, which translates into hundreds of new homes being built across South Wales every year.

Building over 13,500 beautifully-designed new homes a year in more than 350 prime locations nationwide, Persimmon is proud to be one of the UK’s most successful house-builders, committed to the highest standards of design, construction and service.

The Five Star Builder prides itself on its homes being priced 20 per cent below the national average, opening the opportunity of homeownership to thousands of families every year who might otherwise not be able to afford it.

Persimmon Homes West Wales Regional Build Quality Director Carl Davey said:

“It was a pleasure to meet with young people from across Bridgend as they begin thinking about their futures, and I was glad to see so many considering taking up the opportunities the construction and housing sector has to offer.

“Our training academy, run in conjunction with Bridgend College, is something Persimmon is really proud of and we want to see it go from strength-to-strength as we train up the next generation of skilled construction workers.

“Engaging with students at career fairs like this is really important to businesses like Persimmon, not only because we want to demonstrate how we can bring employment opportunities to communities across the UK but the careers we can offer in the areas people already live so they don’t have to move to get a good job, never mind that they’ll be helping build the homes of the future there.”
