Humbling experience for Suffolk team

Team members from Suffolk have been volunteering at Ipswich Outreach, working with the town’s homeless.

Back in January, the team voted for Ipswich Outreach as their Charity of the Year and are determined to do more than just fundraise for this vital causes locally.

The team have been collecting food donations and personal care items for the organisation, and each month two members of the team volunteer with the charity and see first-hand the work they do supporting those without a home.

Field Sales Manager Katy Bent-Marshall and Senior Sales Adviser Julian Collier spent an evening with the charity volunteers last month and said they found it a very “humbling experience”.

They served hot food to the homeless and those in need, and handed out sandwiches, taking time to speak to those they were helping.

The charity is in great need of hygiene products including deodorants, sanitary items, toothpaste, shaving foam and new underwear and socks, and team members have been asked to bring an item from the list instead of making a donation when they hold their monthly dress down at the ned of the month.

Ian Hamilton, Managing Director for Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: “The whole team has really got behind our charity effort, and have gone the extra mile to support Ipswich Outreach since the start of the year and we will continue our efforts right through to Christmas.”

The team are raising money through bake sales, dress down days and sponsorship events to support Ipswich Outreach.
