Apprentices Build Their Boss’s Dream Home

Persimmon Apprenticeship Manager moves into West Kilbride home crafted by Scotland’s next generation of builders

There’s nothing quite like moving into a new home – but for Persimmon Homes’ Regional Apprenticeship Manager, Ian MacPherson, it’s extra special. Ian has officially moved into his new home at Snowdon Gait, West Kilbride, a house built by the very apprentices he mentors across Scotland.

From laying the foundations to the finishing touches, Ian’s home has been crafted by award-winning apprentices. Local bricklaying star Chantelle Muir led the build of the walls, while joiners Davy Mutch and Daniel McNally brought their expertise to the timberwork. The final five-star polish was added by painter Frankie O’Dea, whose attention to detail brought the home to life.

The project has been a showcase of talent, skill, and teamwork, demonstrating what Scotland’s next generation of construction professionals can achieve when trusted with responsibility.

Ian MacPherson said:

"Moving in is an incredible feeling. I’ve watched our apprentices grow and develop their skills over the past months, and now to see them complete my home – knowing I trusted them to do it – is incredibly rewarding. It’s proof that the future of Scotland’s construction industry is in safe hands!"

Chantelle Muir added:

"Being part of building Ian’s home has been amazing. It’s a real privilege to see our skills on display and know we’ve created something that will be lived in and loved for years. This isn’t just another home – it’s a milestone for all of us."
