Breaking Ground in Wem

Construction is now underway in Wem, marking the start of a new community that will deliver high-quality homes for local people.

Persimmon Homes West Midlands’ Eckford Vale development will deliver a mix of 100 two- to four-bedroom homes, with every home benefiting from solar panels and an EV charging point as standard.

The development will feature a new children's play area and more than six acres of public open space, creating attractive green spaces for residents and the wider community to enjoy.

Eckford Vale will also deliver a range of wider community benefits, including more than £400,000 in Community Infrastructure Levy contributions to support local infrastructure, education and community services. In addition, ten homes being transferred to a housing association partner for rent and shared ownership.

Persimmon Homes will facilitate and fund the construction of a new mini roundabout at the junction of Lowe Hill Road and B5063, to replace the current junction, and contribute to the ecological conservation of the nearby Cole Mere Ramsar Site.

A show home will be opening at Eckford Vale soon, giving prospective homeowners the opportunity to experience the high quality, design and finish of the new homes, while exploring everything the development has to offer.

Lee Perry, Technical Director at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said:

"We are delighted to have broken ground on this exciting new development in Wem. As construction gets underway, we are looking forward to creating a high-quality neighbourhood that will provide energy-efficient homes for local people, alongside significant investment in local infrastructure, green space and community facilities."
