Children at a school on the Kent coast are excited to see their outdoor learning space revamped after receiving a funding boost from our South East region.
The team donated £4,000 to Greatstone Primary School and Nursery after hearing about their plans for their Early Learning Zone.
The funding, made available through our Community Champions scheme, will support the first phase of an ambitious project to upgrade the outdoor learning area used by nursery and Reception children, creating new opportunities for imaginative play and learning.
With funding secured from us, and the money raised from a beach toddle waddle organised by the school, they can now start work on a circular track, which will form the centrepiece of the enhanced space. Future plans include the creation of a village around the perimeter, featuring a range of open-ended play opportunities including a coffee shop-style mud kitchen and a Persimmon Homes-branded construction zone.
Jemma Gorham, Early Years Teacher at Greatstone Primary School and Nursery, said:
“On behalf of everyone at the Early Learning Zone, we would like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to Persimmon Homes for the incredibly generous donation.
“The support means so much to us and will help us create an exciting, engaging outdoor space where children can explore, learn, play and make special memories."
Craig West, Construction Director for Persimmon Homes South East, said:
"We are delighted to support Greatstone Primary School and help bring this exciting project to life.
It's fantastic to see the school's vision for creating a space that will inspire children for many years to come.
“Through our Community Champions programme, we are proud to support local organisations that make a real difference in the communities where we build.”
