Local rugby club scores £5,000 boost for new training equipment

A Leicestershire rugby club has received a £5,000 donation from Persimmon Homes North Midlands to help invest in new training equipment for players across its junior and senior teams.

Market Bosworth Rugby Football Club will use the funding to purchase a range of equipment to support training sessions and improve opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

The donation was made through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme and was marked with a cheque presentation attended by ward Cllr Maureen Cook, Rob Blaney, Land Director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands, and members of Market Bosworth Rugby Football Club.

Cllr Maureen Cook, Ward Councillor and Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group, Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council said: “I would like to add my profound appreciation to that given by the members of Market Bosworth Rugby Club.  The donation will go a long way and will benefit many people from our area.  By making the donation to "local" needs Persimmon has shown an awareness of the differing needs of communities where development takes place and is to be commended for "looking outside the box.”

Richard Dolman, Chairman of Market Bosworth Rugby Football Club said: “Speaking on behalf of the club and its members this type of kind donation goes a huge distance in a club like ours, this makes a real difference to what the club can offer to the local community both on and off the pitch, I would like to thank Persimmon homes personally and on behalf of all of ours clubs members.”

Rob Blaney, Land and Planning Director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to support Market Bosworth Rugby Football Club through our Community Champions programme. Local sports clubs play an important role in bringing communities together and encouraging people of all ages to stay active. We’re proud to back good causes and community groups in the areas where we operate, and with our Brascote Park development nearby, we hope this funding helps the club continue to attract and develop players.”
