Surrounded by the verdant hills of the Dartmoor National Park, with a railway station and easy access to the Devon Expressway, Ivybridge is the perfect place to call home. Once a welcome coach-stop on the way from Exeter to Plymouth, the town has grown up around its location on the fast-flowing river Erme, which once powered the area's tin and corn mills.

Brilliant road links on your doorstep

The A38 Devon Expressway - the key road through Devon, links with the M5 at Exeter (35 miles) for easy travel up to Bristol (110 miles). Go west and the A38 will get you to Plymouth (12 miles) in just 20 minutes continuing into Cornwall via the Saltash Bridge. It has its own railway station on the South West Railway line, with regular trains to London Paddington taking just over three hours, as well as providing a convenient commuting option for Plymouth..

Schools straight from home

There are six nursery schools, including one devoted to Montessori educational principles. There are four primary schools - many of which are Ofsted rated as Outstanding - and a well-regarded secondary school, The Community College (one the first-ever specialist sports colleges in the UK). The nearest school to your new house for children with special educational needs is Longcause Community Special School at Plymstock.

Get out and about in the town

Your new home, is on the southernmost tip of the Dartmoor National Park, with its dramatic landscapes, wild ponies and tales of folklore and intrigue. Take to the National Park for excellent mountain biking and walking, canoeing and geocaching, horseriding and climbing - this working landscape is an outdoor playground for the adventurous. If you'd like to walk along miles of sandy beaches, drive to Mothercombe, Thurlestone and Bigbury-on-Sea. For nightlife, take a 13-minute train journey to the bright lights of Plymouth!
