Eager househunters have reserved the first properties at a major new development in Mountain Ash – before the first brick has even been laid.
Persimmon Homes’ Golwg y Mynydd development on land off Cardiff Road was launched at the end of November – and already four families have made Early Bird reservations.Work has now started on the infrastructure for the site including the roads and sewers. Construction on the first houses will begin shortly. Only a few properties have been released for sale at this stage – but Early bird reservations mean the customer will have first refusal on the plot once it has been priced and marketed.
Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said the early interest proved the demand for good quality, affordable housing in The Valleys. She said: “We are delighted to have launched our Golwg y Mynydd development and we’re pleased to have taken our first Early Bird reservations. “We have had dozens of visitors to site already and we’re confident that this development is going to prove
extremely popular. “There has been a chronic lack of much-needed new housing in The Valleys. Moving forward, this is something we want to help to address, while continuing our investment in larger towns like Cardiff and Barry.” Persimmon is building 110 new homes at the development, consisting of a range of two, three and four-bedroom properties in a beautiful rural location. The site is directly adjacent to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s flagship Mountain Ash Cross Valley Link Project, which will see a 60m bridge built from Persimmon’s site over the railway line and the River Cynon. The bridge will provide a key link for traffic travelling on the A4059 and B4275 in order to relieve congestion in Mountain Ash.
The project will cost around £12m and Persimmon Homes has agreed to provide a substantial financial contribution as part of its development through a Section 106 agreement.
